The National Night Out event will be held throughout the community on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 6 p.m. until dark. National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event held the first Tuesday of October. 

The event is meant to increase awareness about police programs in the communities, such as drug prevention, town watch/Neighborhood Watch, and other anti-crime efforts. Initially communities held lights-on vigils. Now, many communities hold block parties, festivals, and other events to help bring neighbors together.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime activities.
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
