How to Read your Meter

To read a meter, is is read from left to right, just like an odometer in your vehicle. The City bills per 1000 gallons. 

We grab gallons starting in the 100's place and we add two zeros to represent the ones and tens place. 

A reading of 0751381.8 will result in a bill reading of 7513. 

**To calculate the water consumption: You take the current reading of 7513 and add two zeros to represent the ones and tens place (751300) and subtract it from the previous reading (741300). For ex: 751300-741300 = 10,000 gallons**
