Located within Gregg-Clarke Park, the Ash Pavilion is intended to be a multi-purpose covered area primarily designed and constructed for roller hockey. However, countless other sports, activities and events will be taking place under this 200' x 100' pavilion. The story of how the Ash Pavilion came about can be read by going to this webpage: Make-A-Wish and Ash Crane.
On Monday, November 5, 2018, the Kyle City Council approved Phase 1 of the project. Phase 1 includes the engineering, surveying and site plans. It also includes the site grading, drainage, base and sub-surface work. This first phase includes the concrete slab and steel super structure along with site mobilization associated with these mentioned services.
The actual value of this phase is approximately $480,000. The pledges for in-kind work has reduced this phase to $308,000, with $250,000 of that coming from the Park Development Fund (not general tax fund). These funds have been earmarked for a covered pavilion in Gregg-Clarke Park for several years. The balance of the funds for Phase 1 is coming from donations received through November 1, 2018.
Phase 2 includes the finishing out of the project with the rink dasher boards, player benches and bleachers, netting around the pavilion, basketball goals and other sports goals and nets, scoreboard, striping, lights, drinking fountain, ceiling fan, lightning protection, signage, landscaping, restroom improvements, enlarging the parking and storage of equipment. Phase 2 has an actual value of about $200,000. Current pledges for in-kind work has reduced that number to about $150,000. When adding in other cash donations from the community, and from around the country, the project is about $30,000 from being completely funded.
Once the funding for Phase 2 is complete, that phase of development will go before the City Council for approval. If all goes as planned, that approval could be in the summer of 2019 and a Grand Opening of the Ash Pavilion could be in early fall of 2019.
Donations will be made directly to the City of Kyle and can be mailed to 100 W. Center Street, Kyle, Texas 78640 ATTN: Ash Pavilion, or processed online using the link below. Contributors may contact the City of Kyle for acknowledgement letters of donation.
Or contact the Kyle Parks Department at 512-262-3939 to pledge in-kind work for the project.
