City Council Proclamation

WHEREAS, The City of Kyle encourages and promotes strong and inclusive communities that recognize and celebrate efforts to bring people together for a greater good; and

WHEREAS, The City of Kyle paused this past weekend in remembrance of the life and efforts of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. along with the observance of the day in his honor; and

WHEREAS, As we continue to look back on the works and words of the late Rev. Dr. King, many of those messages and calls for action ring as loud today as they did during the Civil Rights & Voting Rights Movements of the 1950s and 60s in which he spoke them... “People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.”; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kyle will continue its stand in the name of truth, fairness and inclusion of members throughout our community and take the time to recognize ways to lead us as a community, including remembering the important reminders of Dr. Rev King in how we should reflect, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?’”, to remember our strongest communities are built when we look out for our fellow brothers and sisters; and

THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the City of Kyle that, January 17, 2022 should be remembered as

“Martin Luther King Jr. Day”
