Open House and Board Meeting held for Uptown TIRZ Thursday, February 27th

The City of Kyle is hosted an open house at the Kyle City Hall on February 27 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm to review the draft Strategic Plan for the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) that was established in December 2018 for the Uptown area of Plum Creek. A TIRZ Board meeting was held at 7pm.

What is a TIRZ: A TIRZ sets aside a portion of the increased property tax increment resulting from development within the district to reinvest towards public benefits within the district. The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to identify and prioritize investments like public parkland, streets, or facilities that will benefit the area.

Vision: The Uptown TIRZ aims to serve the city and its residents with a first-class town center that improves the quality of life, connects people, and becomes a destination for Kyle residents and the region. -Kyle Ordinance 1022 

Goals:

Integrated: The TIRZ is an integrated part of Kyle. 
Walkable:  The TIRZ is urban and walkable with a variety of area uses. 
Growth:  New growth in the TIRZ benefits greater Kyle and makes Kyle more resilient. 
Strategic:   Improvements in the TIRZ are strategically planned for five years out andupdated every year years. 
Artful:   The TIRZ is re-engergized with public art.  
Business:   The TIRZ is a vibrant and resilient business center. 
Affordable:  The TIRZ is affordable for families and businesses of Kyle. 

The City of Kyle is asking for your input on the goals and features of the proposed Central Park and Cultural Trail anticipated to be constructed within the Uptown District of Plum Creek.  These park improvements will be constructed using revenue from the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) #2 that was established in December of 2018 for the Uptown District.
