Stormwater Structural Controls (SSCs) Maintenance Program

The City of Kyle passed Ordinance No. 1100, Chapter 50 Utilities, Section 50-412 requiring long-term maintenance of post-construction stormwater structural controls in June 2020. The ordinance was created to ensure that permanent stormwater structural controls (SSCs) are being maintained and are operating as they were originally designed. SSCs that are in proper working order can help reduce the occurrence of flooding and capture pollutants that would otherwise end up in our waterways.

The ordinance requires owners of SSCs that discharge or connect to the City's Storm Drainage and Flood Risk Mitigation Utility or discharge into Waters of the United States must conduct, at a minimum, a certified inspection of each structural control every three (3) years. The certified inspection report must be prepared by a Texas-licensed engineer and the licensed engineer must be chosen from the list of certified engineers provided by the City of Kyle.

This program will be phased in the summer of 2024.
