The community is invited to join the City of Kyle for the Dialogue for Peace and Progress 2024 – Celebrating Black History Month on Thursday, February 15 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Kyle City Hall, 100 W. Center St.

Join us prior to the Dialogue at 6 p.m. to hear poems and prose recited by students and enjoy snacks and light refreshments provided by the For the LOVE of ART Foundation. Readings will center around the theme Black History Month: Educating, Engaging, Entertaining our Community.   

Dialogue for Peace and Progress – Celebrating Black History Month Schedule: 

  • 6 p.m. - Local Students present Black History Month Poems & Prose 
  • 6:45 p.m. - Break  
  • 7 p.m. - Dialogue for Peace and Progress begins 

The Dialogue for Peace & Progress is an event series that works to join community members and leaders for open and honest conversations to raise awareness and, if necessary, facilitate change in the City of Kyle.

The City of Kyle has recruited a group of panelists from a multitude of perspectives and backgrounds to speak during the discussion, they include Johnny Flores, Dr. Scott Wm Bowman, Olivia Brown, Brittany Cox, Mi'ya Marcelle, Dr. Ariel McField, and Pastor Derrick Benn. Arts and Cultural Board Chair Vanessa Westbrook will moderate this panel. 

The event will be held in-person at Kyle City Hall, 100 W. Center St., but other options for participation include streaming the panel online through Spectrum 10, the City’s YouTube channel or the City of Kyle's Facebook Page.
